#7 Do Physical Training

Physical Training for a couple of months prior to your trek can help you tremendously for your high altitude trekking. FYI, Mera peak climbing is graded strenuous- you have to walk through glaciers, snow, and ice at sub-zero temperatures for 5 to 6 hours each day and 8 to 9 hours on your summit day. One of the best recommendations is to consult with your doctor- make sure you have sound health for trekking. And as far as physical training is concerned, we advise you to go for aerobic activities like running, biking or swimming. You can also carry a small backpack and walk around your house or park for a few hours every day.

#8 Make sure you have experienced guide

You know it well- there are hundreds of companies offering Mera Peak Climbing package at a competitive and lower price as well. But what matters the most is the climbing guide or mountaineering leader they employ for your climbing. The success rate of climbing is profoundly dependent on the guide and mountaineering leader. There's a huge difference in going with experienced guide and guides with comparatively less experience. In this account, we have to brag about our Veteran Mountaineering Leader, Mr Chhewang Palden Sherpa who has more than 25 years of experience and summited Mera Peak more than 100 times. That's laudable!

#9 Choose well-crafted Itinerary

A well-crafted itinerary for Mera Peak integrates Acclimatization day, pre-climb training and not to mention contingency day. On your acclimatization day (Day 10) you'll spend acclimatizing and receiving pre-climb training from your climbing guide. The training prepares you for better performance with climbing equipment (ice axe, jumar/ascender, crampon, harness, descender, ice screw, etc.) and basic techniques to scale the peak. It incorporates basic skills for summiting the top of Mera Peak. Contingency day refers to a reserved day- a day saved for unanticipated complications and hurdles. A contingency day is applicable in case of flight delays or cancellations owing to bad weather.
