Bhutan is one of the greenest countries in the world. This hidden Himalayan kingdom abounds in verdant hills, rich pastures and mountains covered by forests. There are hiking trails that takes you past the amazing Bhutanese countryside and traverses hills and dense forests. Walk past the lush paddy fields and traditional villages to secluded monasteries perched above a hill or a ridge. Enjoy majestic views of the Himalayan peaks (Jomolhari, Black Mountains, Gangkhar Puensam etc.) by hiking to popular vantage points. Some popular trails for day hikes in Bhutan include those leading to Tiger’s Nest or Taktsang Monastery, Lungchutse Lakhang (from Dochu La), Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Sky Burial Ground (from Chele La) etc.
