Pokhara-Paro direct flight has started. Flights from Pokhara International Airport to Paro International Airport in Bhutan have officially started from Tuesday, 18 Nov 2025. Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya informed that he reached Thimphu on the opening flight at the invitation of Bhutan Air and its Nepal-based representative Universal Tours and Travel.
An empty Bhutan Airlines aircraft departed from Paro International Airport and successfully landed in Paro after flying from Pokhara with nine passengers and crew on board. Mayor Acharya stated that although the previously planned team visit could not proceed due to technical issues, he is optimistic that regular flights will begin soon. He added that he has full confidence Bhutan Airlines and UTTI will honor their earlier commitments by starting consistent flight operations in the near future.
He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Bhutan Airlines, Universal Tours and Travel Chairman Parashar Prasai, Managing Director, and the entire team and Bhutan Airlines family for providing the opportunity to participate in the opening flight and cut the cake to launch the flight.
The scheduled program, which was supposed to start in October, was rescheduled due to the previous protests in Nepal, and the first flight was successfully launched on Tuesday. According to information received from Bhutan Airlines, the remaining regular direct flights will resume from April 2026.
