Entrepreneurs have said that the hotels and restaurants that have been closed for the past nine months are preparing to operate after adopting the necessary safety measures as the possible risk of coronavirus (Covid-19).
Texar Buduja Pun, a tourism entrepreneur, said that the decision was taken to open the hotel to domestic and foreign tourists after other hotel workers started returning to work. "All public health standards are used, now we are eager to welcome tourists," Pun said.
He said that if the hotels in Ghorepani and the surrounding areas would be closed for a long time and the entrepreneurs would face more financial crises. Tourist arrivals are expected to increase the pressure of domestic tourists to enjoy the snowfall even though the number of tourist arrivals is low in winter.
The tourism business has also started booming as long-distance vehicles, domestic and international flights have become popular. The Annapurna Rural Municipality had banned the movement of tourists to the tourist sites within the village citing the possibility of entering the area through the Corona epidemic.
Earlier, two Chinese tourists who had entered Ghorepani were rescued and quarantine. The rural municipality is under pressure to open hotels in all the tourist places of the Annapurna region along with the hotels in Ghorepani.
Located at an altitude of 3,210 meters above sea level, Poon Hill ranges, sunrise observations as well as the culture and way of life of the Magar people, various species of animals, birds, and plants.
Out of the total number of tourists entering the district, 60 to 75 percent of tourists reach Ghorepani and Poon Hill under Annapurna trekking route.
