Having done the 3 passes trek and EBC, my friends and I were pretty confident of scaling Lobuche, even though this was our first Himalayan peak. Previously we had done the Kilimajaro and the Alps and some of us had even scaled the difficult El Capitan. So we were highly confident and sure about summiting Lobuche. But our confidence took a beating once the altitude hit us above Dingboche. Our guides took very good care of us and made sure that we were acclimatized before our summit bid. We used the contingency day to rest at a lower elevation. This proved to be helpful as all of us felt healthy enough to climb Lobuche. Though there were some technical sections, the main challenge was the altitude. We were left huffing and puffing by the time we reached the summit. Being on the summit gives you a different high. That awesome feeling is something which cannot be put into words. All 6 of us glad tthat we could make it to the summit. I would say the credit for our successful summit goes to our guide Chhewang and the rest of the crew. They kept us safe, well-fed and warm. While camping, there was an endless supply of warm and tasty broth and hot drinks to keep us warm and hydrated. The training at high camp refreshed our technical skills. We are glad that we used the services of Third Rock Adventures because they provided all the support that was needed for a safe and successful summit. This company ticks all the right boxes. Highly recommended!
