Trip Overview

The Short Bhutan tour includes scenic flights mesmerizing sightseeing, drives, and short hikes to Bhutan’s major tourist attractions. The itinerary is just the right one for those who are short of time. The trip provides you an extraordinary opportunity to learn about the notable ancient history of the fascinating ‘Hidden Kingdom’ of Bhutan.

Bhutan is a Himalayan garden located on the easternmost side of the Great Himalayas in South Asia. A country secluded from the rest of the world for many years, Bhutan was earlier regarded as the ‘Shangri La.’ It is a small landlocked country where lush green forests and rich biodiversity outnumber worldwide tourists. Bhutan is a country that has a profound belief in the philosophy of ‘High Value, Low Volume.’ The governing belief system has thus preserved the pre-historic cultural heritages and natural canopies of the nation. The tranquil land of Bhutan is home to some dzongs, monasteries, and fortresses that date back to the seventh century. With more than 2000 temples, Bhutan encompasses some renowned religious Buddhist sites.

The 4-Days’ short trip to Bhutan begins and ends in the enthralling Paro valley. Enjoy the drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Thimphu is home to the royal residence of the King of Bhutan. Located on the western side of the country, Thimphu offers some surreal places to visit. Take an orientation walk through the city and get a real taste of the Bhutanese culture, lifestyle, and food.

Visit the famous King’s Memorial Chorten, built-in memory of the Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Dedicated to World Peace, the Tibetan-style stupa is one of the most visible landmarks of Thimphu. The snow-white Chorten with the shining golden finial never fails to captivate the visitors. Explore the aesthetic arts and crafts, including paintings, weaving, and sculptures of the aspiring artists at the School of Arts and Crafts. Famous as ‘The Painting School,’ the school is the best place for learning about Bhutan's distinctive thirteen art forms. Visit the classical Institute of Traditional Medicine located on top of a hill.

Climb up to the famous Buddha Point atop a hill in Thimphu and witness one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world, the Buddha Dordenma statue. The colossal 169-foot Buddha statue residing on top of a meditation hall encompasses 125 000 smaller Buddhas within it. Immerse in the peaceful aura of the place and overlook the beautiful Southern entrance of the Thimphu valley. Observe Takin, the national animal of Bhutan, at the Motithang Takin Preserve. The flocks of Takins are held in high esteem within the lush green forest spread on 8.4 acres of land. Explore the wildlife reserve and discover the legend of the creation of animals in Bhutan by Lama Drukpa Kunley in the 15th century.

Explore the historic town of Paro with numerous sacred sites, places, and ancient monuments. Set off for incredible sightseeing in the beautiful rampant valley of Paro. Visit the Paro Dzong and observe one of the perfect examples of remarkable Bhutanese architecture. Popular as ‘Fortress on a Heap of Jewels,’ the historical fortress built on the side of a steep hill including the courtyards, temple, and prayer hall is indeed a masterpiece.  Paro Dzong is a legendary place of Bhutan where foreign invasions were thwarted, and peace persisted through the holy prayers.

Walk through the streets of Paro and explore the local markets. Hike through the beautiful Pine forests to the sacred Paro Taktsang Monastery residing 3000 meters above the Paro valley. Famous as ‘Tiger’s Nest Monastery, the monastery is a major landmark and religious heritage site of its home nation Bhutan. Enjoy a breathtaking view and feel the magic of the holiest temple in the country. Bhutan trip is incomplete without a visit to the stunning Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

Finally, the short tour ends as you depart back to your destination from Paro International Airport on the fourth day.

Great experience of Bhutan

Trip to Bhutan was a wonderful experience for me and my family. I have visited places like Paro and Thimpu where we have seen many monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes. Taktsang Monastery and Tiger Nest were most attractive to see. Third Rock Adventure's team was thoroughly helpful for every instance that we had.

Short and sweet tour of Bhutan

At first we would like to thank Third Rock Adventures for their wonderful attention to the details and for taking care of us very well throughout the trip. Both driver and guide had very good sense of humor..Travelling to Tigers Nest was not so easy as it snowed heavily but they were very experienced in taking care of the travellers and made sure that we were safe at all times. I liked their customer focused approaches. Thank you all.
