Basically, you can complete Island Peak Climbing in about 2 weeks. If you choose a different route, it can take more days to complete the expedition. Lukla is the gateway to Island Peak. You will have to fly to Lukla and start trekking through the route of Everest Base Camp until Dingboche. From Dingboche, the trail takes you to Chukkung and Chukkung Ri instead of walking further to Lobuche. The next day, you will reach Island Peak base camp. At this base camp, you will spend a day acclimatizing and attending pre-climbing training for the final ascent to the summit.

The route to the summit of Island Peak follows the classic trail of Everest Base Camp. Lukla, Namche, Phakding, Tengboche, Dingboche, Chhukung, Chhukung Ri, and Island Peak Base Camp are the major stopping points before the final push to the top of Island Peak. At the base camp, you will be training and preparing for the final ascent to the top of Island Peak. On this day, you will learn to use the climbing gear and equipment, as your climbing leader will demonstrate the basic maneuvers required to tackle the challenges. 

The frame (the border) enclosed in pink color is the international boundary, glaciers are addressed in blue letters, and conservation areas are in green letters.
