After an early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by your Vespa riders/guides from your hotels. The Vespa's in good condition and your guides are Kathmandu locals who have been brought up in the alleys and lanes of the valley, so they have ample experience navigating the heavy traffic.
Make sure you have a light jacket and sunglasses on. The helmets will be provided by the guides. A single Vespa will have one pillion and one expert rider/guide. If you are a group, then all the Vespas will run in coordination and make stops according to the itinerary.
We will begin the fun-filled day with sightseeing tours around cultural and religious heritage sites within the valley that have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Along the way, we will make stops at the secret food courts for an authentic local experience.
We begin the tour by riding to the nearby Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is also known locally as Basantapur and oftentimes Freak Street. We will park the Vespa nearby and then take a walk in the courtyard's no-vehicle zone. You will come across many pagoda-styled ancient temples and statues of deities. Witness locals worshiping the statues with flowers, garlands, and sweets. You can visit the Hanuman Dhoka Museum, which was once the Palace of the Shah regime but is now a museum that holds all the ancient artifacts.
From there, our next destination will be Pashupatinath temple in the northwest of the city. Pashupatinath is one of the most significant Hindu temples in the world and is frequented by pilgrims all around the year. While non-Hindu cannot enter the main temple, we will pay a visit to the surrounding temples near the Bagmati river.
After the spiritual tour, the next stop would be Boudhanath, one of the largest dome-shaped Stupas in Nepal. It is a pilgrimage site for Buddhists around the world. After circumambulation around the dome, we will have some authentic Tibetan Buddhist lunch in one of the famous eateries nearby.
Following an eventful day in the back of the vintage Vespa, you will be dropped off at your hotel. If you like to have similar unique day tours in and around Kathmandu city, then feel free to let us know, and we'll organize the same for you.
