Dhulikhel Dhulikhel has a 180-degree panoramic view of mountain ranges like Mt.Everest, Mt.Annapurna, and Mt.Ganesh.

Drive From Kathmandu to Nagarkot (1 hour 30 minutes, 27 km)

You will begin this trip a little early to witness the sunrise view in Nagarkot. You will be picked up to depart by 4:30 AM, depending upon the season and time for sunrise. An hour and a half drive take you from Kathmandu to Nagarkot; along the way, you can start witnessing the greenery.

Nagarkot, at an altitude of 2,175m, is a city full of lushness and panoramic views of Mt.Everest towards the North-East and other mountain ranges like Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, Manaslu, Number, Ganesh, and Annapurna. The scenery is especially splendid during the sunrise, which you will be able to witness as you climb the tower in Nagarkot. Following that, you will hike back and have your morning breakfast here.

Then you can prepare for the actual hike to Dhulikhel from Nagarkot.

Hike From Nagarkot to Dhulikhel (5 - 6 hours, 16 km)

The hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel is moderate, and it really lets you relax and enjoy the moment with beautiful landscapes on the horizon. The roads are usually earthen, and you can get amazing views of the Himalayan ranges. You will be passing through dense pine forests and even rhododendron trees, the national flower of Nepal.

Along the way, hike through the Nala Village, which is famous for its Khuwa made from evaporated milk, so be sure to buy it if you can. It is a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists alike, and it is also famous for the temple of Nala Karunamaya, worshiped as the creator of the world. You will also pass through Banepa, where you can observe typical Nepali culture and the way of life in villages. Banepa is known for its ancient temples like the Chandeshwari and eight different temples of Lord Ganesh.

Your trip finally ends when you reach Dhulikhel, where you can visit the Kali temple of Dhulikhel, the famous selfie stone, or even mingle with the locals and learn about their Newari culture and tradition. Dhulikhel has a 180-degree panoramic view of mountain ranges like Mt.Everest, Mt.Annapurna, and Mt.Ganesh.You can have your lunch here in Dhulikhel or en route.

Drive from Dhulikhel Back to Kathmandu (1 hour)

After exploring the town and having your lunch there, you will depart from Dhulikhel and head back to Kathmandu after a day well-spent. Before that, you can collect souvenirs and even click on a few photos in the city. After an exhausting day, your trip is finally over as you are dropped at your hotel.

Nagarkot Hike

This day hike is a must do hike before leaving Nepal. I did this trek right after I am back from my ABC trek. Naba smoothly handled every processes and the guide was the best I can imagine. The view from the Nagarkot on a clear day is unbelievable.

Beautiful hike

Nagarkot Dhulikhel hike is one of the most refreshing and delightful hikes in Kathmandu valley, with a possibility to stay overnight. Hike through the forest trails, stairs, ridges with the possibility of seeing mountains, terraced farmlands, villages. The first part of the hike will go through the forests and the second part will be pass through terraced farmlands and villages of local people. I went to Nagarkot at the earliest hour to admire the stunning sunries and the breathtaking view it has to offer. Hiked down the beautiful hiking trail to Dhulikhel. It was a great experience for me. The day was great.

Great Hike

I always wanted to be at Nagarkot for Sunrise view. I have had read many reviews about the view from this point. Finally made it happen with Third Rock Adventures from Thamel. We drove to Nagarkot early in the morning, had the best view, and also hiked to Dhulikhel. The hiking trail was so peaceful.
