The amalgamation of Everest 3 passes trek with Island peak climb is perfect for those ambitious trekkers who want to cross high-altitude passes and summit a Himalayan peak at once. It combines four very popular and challenging treks of the Everest region into one: Everest 3 Passes Trek, Island Peak Climbing, Everest Base Camp Trek, and Gokyo Valley Trek with Renjo La Pass. If you want to trek all of them separately, it will take more than 40 to 50 days, but if you opt for this combo package, you can complete it in 21 days with proper acclimatization. So, time constraint trekkers can merge this challenging 3 high passes trek with thrilling Island peak climbing.
The Island Peak (6,189m), also locally known as Imja Tse, is one of the highly climbed peaks in the Everest region. It lies near the Everest Base Camp (EBC). There are several routes for Island peak climbing. Still, one of the most efficient ways to climb Island Peak is crossing three high Everest region passes, as you'll get enough acclimatization days. Renjo La (5,360m), Cho La (5,420m), and Kongma La (5,535m) are three of the most notable passes in the Everest region. Thus, as per our itinerary, the trail goes clockwise from Gokyo Lake, Everest Base Camp, crossing three high passes and well-acclimatizing before you get to the base camp of Island Peak. This route will well-prepare you for a successful summit of Island peak.
The adventure begins with the thrilling scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. From here, you'll embark on your real trekking journey hiking through different Sherpa settlements such as Phakding and Monjo; you'll reach Namche Bazaar. From Namche, the trekking route diverts into Bhote Koshi Valley. Since the Everest 3 Passes trail follows a clockwise direction, you'll first cross Renjo La Pass, one of the first high passes in this trek, and reach Gokyo Valley. Enjoying the magnificent mountain vistas and pristine Gokyo lakes, you'll make your way to Dudh Koshi Valley. Crossing the second pass, namely Cho La, you'll hike to EBC and ascend Kala Patthar.
Further, the trail moves forward, crosses the last Kongma La Pass, and enters Imja Khola Valley. Slowly the trail descends to Chukkung village and continues to trek towards Island Peak Base Camp, where you'll get some pre-climbing training. Although you might not need the technical climbing experience, some climbing techniques and proper ways of using climbing gear, such as ice axe, harness, etc., might be helpful and boost your confidence. After completing the training, you will continue your trek to Island Peak high camp. The next day, early morning, you'll ascend to the summit.
After successfully climbing the summit of Island Peak, you'll trek back to Chukkung village. You'll get one extra day to celebrate your victory in ascending the Island Peak. Further, you'll retrace and connect with the classic EBC trails to Namche Bazaar and finally reach Lukla, where your trek ends. You'll again take a mountain flight back to Kathmandu, and here adventurous Everest 3 passes trek with Island peak climb ends with the final flight to your home.

This is another acclimatization day before ascending Island Peak. So, today will be a relatively easy day with a few hours of climbing to a high camp at 5,500 meters. Gradually you will climb steep uphill, and after reaching the top, you will make your way through a steep rocky path and reach the high camp of Island Peak. It is a small campsite with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. You'll get enough time for a good rest and general preparation for tomorrow's climb.

Brace yourself; today, you'll fulfill your dream to climb one of the beautiful peaks of the Everest region. You'll hit the trail before dawn, around 3 am, by climbing over boulders till you reach a narrow, rocky ridge that leads to the glacier. With the help of rope and crampons, you will cross the glacier. You'll be dazed by the dramatic views of dawn's light striking the mountains. From here, the real adventure of peak climbing begins.
This is really not difficult and technical, but you need to be extra careful as you may have to cross some rock steps, and the path also becomes steeper. Finally, you'll make it to the summit. The captivating sight from the summit of Island Peak is some of the best views you'll come across in the Everest region. After all, the best picture comes after the most challenging climb. After having a special moment at the top, you'll descend to Island High Base Camp. After resting for a while or depending on your or other team members' health conditions, you'll continue your trek to Chukkung.
Overnight stay in Chukkung.
During the climb, we don't have a full guarantee of perfect weather on our summit day (per our itinerary), so this is an extra day in case we cannot summit the Island Peak on day 16 due to bad weather conditions or some other reasons. If the weather goes unexpectedly unfavorable, so without taking risks, we have to postpone our schedule. Besides, the weather sometimes in the group somebody might get some problems in acclimatizing or health issues so may not be able to make the ascent. In that case, also, this contingency day works. However, if the trip goes smoothly, we don't need this day; the itinerary will go as planned.
Now you are very close to the finish line of the Everest 3 passes trek with Island Peak Climb. Today, you'll leave the Chukkung village behind and descend to Namche. The walk is easy, but the trail is steep downhill, so don't forget to take the help of a trekking pole.
