It gives a taste of alpine-style expedition in the Himalayas. The peak situated between Gokyo valley and Thame is 6,186m/20,296ft in height. It is a semi-technical peak that recently opened for trekking in 2002; thus, making it a relatively new route. Then, trek on a trail over grassy spur and boulders and make your way through the steep headwalls on your way to Camp I near Kyajo Ri Glacier. Then, go on an acclimatizing trek to Camp II and trek back to Camp I. An expedition to Camp II is technical and will be climbing on a slope of 55 degrees. Also, you will be using mountaineering gears like fixed ropes and crampons.

On the summit day, you will be taking the regular climbing route through the southwest ridge. In this challenging and exciting alpine climb, you will be climbing on steep, rugged terrain and using ice and rock climbing and crampon skills, among others. Great Climb with TRA

I with my two office partners had a wonderful experience climbing Kya Jo Ri with Third Rock Adventures. Right from the beginning, the consultant answered all of my questions thoroughly and was very welcoming and accomodating when we arrived in Kathmandu. The trekking part was fantastic - the itinerary was planned with a long approach to aid in acclimatization. Our guide was great and always made sure we had everything we might possibly need. He offered us everything he ate on the way and at the teahouse. He would stop for a minute and let us know the highlight of the day. On the 12 day, on our way Back to Camp II, my friend felt it hard to continue on our pace, so the guide stopped there for about 30 minutes and shared his life story with us, his meeting with Naba and doing the first climb. We felt so humble to be part of his life journey. We all summited successfully and returned home back with lots of wonderful memories.

Kya Jo Ri Climb

I have climbed Mera Peak and Island Peak, and this time I climbed a lesser-known climbing peak called Kyaa jo ri peak. I did it with Third Rock Adventures, my go-to trek and travel company in Nepal. I have been a regular traveler with them since 2015. Been to EBC, ABC, and it was Naba who suggested I climb Mera peak, and am glad I did it. Hadn't he suggested me to, I would never have climbed 3 peaks. He has a great team in Kathmandu for trek and peak climbing. So no doubt on the success-part. This peak hit me hard differently. I thought I would do it easily but was a bit challenging. The narrow wedge of the snow to the summit was a different mountaineering experience for me. They had mentioned it on the product description and itinerary. Had wonderful night at Kyajo Ri Base Camp and the final push was as always amazing. Thanks to Naba for this great climbing itinerary. I will try Ama Dablam next season.

17 days great time in Nepal

I had the good fortune to be on the top of Kyajo Ri Peak. Thanks to Naba, and his team for their work getting me there. This was not my first time in Nepal but it turned into one of the most satisfying visits I have had to this wonderful country. Accommodations in Kathmandu were very comfortable and had great food. The view of the mountains was breathtaking. The technical climbing part was a bit challenging but my determination overtook it. The moment I stepped the top I felt something magical and I still remember it. It was really great adventure
