Following some rest, the guide will brief you about the tour. Then, you can head out for a cultural sightseeing adventure in the city of temples.

First up, the closest UNESCO world heritage site to your hotel is the Kathmandu Durbar Square, located in Basantapur/Freak Street. Witness the narrow gullies, ancient temples, and the historical palace turned museum, Hanuman Dhoka Museum. You can even explore the western hills of the city to Swayambhunath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage site that is the most beautiful Buddhist stupa. Return for a delicious Nepali cuisine dinner at night.

Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 2
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840m/9,316ft) and Trek to Phakding (2,610 m/8,561ft) - 35 minutes flight and 3 to 4 hours trek

On this day, we will be leaving for Lukla, which is the gateway to the Everest region. Catch a regular flight and enjoy the mesmerizing views of changing landscapes, from green hills to milky white mountains. Upon landing, you will have your lunch and begin the trek to Phakding village.

Passing through a green coniferous forest, with views of grazing yaks and a traditional lifestyle, you will reach Phakding. The Dudh Koshi river valley is very welcoming, with views of the white river and green forest surrounding it. You can witness a series of chortans and Mani walls and fluttering prayer flags.

Overnight stay in Phakding.

Day 3
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,284 ft) - 6 to 7 hours trek

Following a rich breakfast made mostly of local produce, you can begin your trailhead to Namche Bazaar. The trail crosses a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river and then towards the village of Monjo checkpoint, which is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. You can get a glimpse of Mt. Everest from here. After reaching Namche Bazaar, settle in and then explore the town.

Namche Bazaar is the main hub and a commercial center of the Everest region with the availability of ATMs, decent cafeterias, renowned bakeries, banks, and weekend markets in the area. As most trails lead here, you will meet many other tourists and even mountaineers.

Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

Day 4
Rest Day at Namche, Optional Hike to Everest View Hotel

As there is this additional day for exploring Namche Bazaar, you can have breakfast, leave your bags and then visit the Khunde Hospital. The hospital was set up by the late Sir Edmund Hilliary and is a famous spot for tourists.

Following that, you can take a slow one to two hours hike up to the Everest View Hotel, the highest placed hotel stated by the Guinness Book of World Records. You can witness majestic views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and the amazing Everest. You can enjoy your lunch in the hotel while enjoying those views. After exploring, return to Namche Bazaar and pack up for the next day. Intermingle with the local sherpas to understand their traditions and livelihood in the Himalayas.

Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5
Helicopter flight from Namche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m/17,594ft) fly over and land in Kala Patthar (5550m/18,204ft) and then flight to Lukla - 45 minutes Helicopter flight

Helicopter to EBC Helicopter Landing at Kala Patthar (5550m/18,204ft)

This is the most impressive day of the entire trip as you will get to fly across the gigantic mountains and land at the base camp of the highest mountain in the world.

Begin the day by calming your nerves because the experience will be exhilarating and a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. You will take your belongings, then head to the Helipad in Namche Bazaar. The helicopter then hovers towards Everest Base Camp. You will make a short landing at the base camp to enjoy views of the tallest 8000m mountains in the world. For instance, it will feel like an entirely different experience as you will get a bird's eye view of the deep Himalayas.

However, as the tip of Everest is not seen from its base, after 15 minutes, we will hop in the helicopter again and fly to Kala Patthar viewpoint, the highest point of this trip. From there, you will see clear panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kantega, Lhotse, and Nuptse. After enjoying the view, the helicopter will take you on a flight to Lukla. However, at 8,848.86m/29,031.7ft, Mt. Everest steals the show.

Overnight stay at Lukla.

Day 6
Lukla to Kathmandu by regular flight - 35 minutes flight

After having breakfast, you will be leaving the beautiful and serene Everest region on a regular flight back to Kathmandu. Engage in souvenir shopping to support the community, then bid farewell to the locals before hopping on the scenic flight.

Namche to Kala Patthar Heli Tour with shor trek.
My husband and I chose Third Rock for this Lukla to Namche Trek and EBC Heli Tour - 7 days because we had already trekked with them to Mardi Himal. With that confidence, we flew to Kala Patthar, and it was the best holiday we could imagine. The trek from Lukla, to Namche, was a great experience. No doubt our guide was the best. Thanks to Naba for this itinerary!

First Heli ride in Nepal
This was my third time in Nepal, and I wanted to heli ride to the Himalayas. Talked with TRA and they recommended this itinerary and I booked without a second thought. I knew I was assigned the best guide, and no doubt that my trip was about to be the best of the best. However, due to bad weather, our Lukla flight was postponed. But my guide offered me free stroll around Thamel, and Ason market and it was a beautiful experience. The next day we flew to Lukla, hiked to Phakding and Namche Bazar. Namche took my heart. It was a beautiful mountain town there. I was so in love with this place. My guide briefed me the heli ride to Kala Patthar. We hopped on a heli to the most popular viewpoint in Everest region to get awed by the incredible view of some of the highest mountains in the world. It was lifechanging experience there. Back in Kathmandu we had dinner together. The company had the kindest courtesy for a traveler like me. I definitely recommend them for any trips to Nepal.

Had best trip
Our Lukla to Namche Trek and EBC Heli Tour was a great way to enjoy the sight of Everest and other peaks. We flew to Lukla, trekked up Namche and again took a heli ride to Kala Patthar. And trust me, we had the best view of Everest. Our guide was a great man with knowledge of everything for the trek. We were lucky that the sky was as clear as one can imagine. The few minute in Kala Pathhar was the best time.

Our 7 days Lukla to Namche Trek and EBC Heli Tour gave us the unique and best experience in Nepal. We are back to our home with so many wonderful memories. Our guide Babu was a great friend. The heli flight from Namche to Everest Base Camp, and brief time at Kala Patthar was the best part of this itinerary. We loved the unexpected service from the company.

Kala Patthar Heli
I was super excited for the heli ride to Kala Patthar in Nepal. It exceeded my expectation. The captain was a great person as he guided me through the view pointing the mountains and telling me the name. The Himalayan landscape was out of this world. We saw the small settlement and the trail that the trekker uses to the base camp. I was surprised by the beauty of Everest region. Much thanks to my guide, captain and Naba for making it the best!
