The 6 days of Poon Hill trekking journey begins from Kathmandu with a short flight to Pokhara, the beautiful city of lakes. Afterward, you'll take 2 to 3 hours to drive to Hile. From Hile, you begin the trek by following the trail to Ulleri. En route, you come across dense rhododendron and orchid forests. Leaving Ulleri, the trail climbs to Ghorepani village, a base of the famous vantage point of Poon Hill. The next day, you'll hike to Poon Hill and relish the best sunrise view over the Annapurna Mountain range.

After taking time to embrace the stunning beauty of the place, you'll return the same way you came to Poon Hill. From here, you'll get back to Tadapani and then trek back to Kimchi village, passing through the famous Gurung village of Ghandruk. Further, by taking a short drive to Pokhara valley. Then you'll fly back to the capital city of Kathmandu, where you'll take a final flight back to your home country and conclude your 6 days of Poon Hill Trek.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) - Transfer to Hotel and Trek Preparation

Upon arrival at the Kathmandu International Airport, our representative from Third Rock Adventures will welcome you. After completing all airport formalities, you'll drive to the hotel.  After taking a short rest, you'll attend a small meeting regarding trip preparation. In this quick meet-up, your guide will explain about 6 days of the Poon Hill Trek itinerary.

Later you can wander around the nearby place and get insight into the Nepalese lifestyle. 

Overnight stay in Kathmandu. 

Day 2
Fly to Pokhara, Drive to Hile, and Trek to Ulleri (1,970m), - 25 minutes flight, 2:30 hours drive, and 3 to 4 hours (4 km) trek


Early morning, you'll grab a hot breakfast, and your guide will lead you to the airport to catch the flight to Pokhara city. It is a short yet scenic flight offering alluring mountain vistas with green hills, lakes, and valleys.

Once you land at Pokhara, you'll take a short drive to Hile, the starting point of the Poon Hill trek.

Begin your trek with a gentle walk through the forest trail towards Ulleri village. The trek trail passes through dense rhododendron forests and includes exciting river crossings, cascading waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, and charming meadow walks.

Later, after climbing the challenging steep, over 3500 steps perched on the large hill will take you to Ulleri village. Undoubtedly, following the scenic track, you'll pass through some charming Gurung and Magar settlements. Once you arrive at Ulleri, you can relax by resting your tired legs and muscles.

Day 3
Trek to Ghorepani (2,874 m) – 4 to 5 hours (9 km) trek

Ghorepani Ghorepani

Set out for your ultimate destination, Ghorepani village, the base of the famous vantage point of Poon Hill. Today's hike is not too tiresome and is a shorter, easier, and more comfortable walk than an early day. 

From Ulleri, you'll traverse through some beautiful terrace fields and dense Oak and rhododendron forest. On the way, you'll embrace the enchanting mountain vistas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. Ghorepani is a large Magar settlement that was used as a watering hole for horses and mules during traveling along the old route a long time back. The village is full of lodges and teahouses.

If you are not too tired, you can take a short hike to Poon Hill to enjoy the mesmerizing sunset view.

Day 4
Hike to Poon Hill (3,210m) and Trek to Tadapani (2,600m) 5 to 6 hours (9.5 km) trek

Today, you'll rise before dawn and start hiking to Poon Hill to experience the most glorious sunrise view. Once you reach the top of the hill, you'll be surrounded by the mighty mountains, including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. There is something so special about sunrise over these mighty Himalayas. Spend some time absorbing the beauty of the majestic Annapurna range.

Later trekking down to Ghorepani, you'll grab some hot breakfast and continue walking to Tadapani village. The trail descends to Tadapani via the charming village of Banthanti. This village offers a splendid sight of the hilly landscape. En route, you'll pass through Deurali Danda, another scenic vantage point. Afterward, head back down to Tadapani, a village sitting quietly at the lap of Machhapuchhre.

Day 5
Trek to Kimchi via Ghandruk, Drive to Pokhara, and Fly to Kathmandu – 4 to 5 hours (10 km) trek, 2:30 hours drive, and 25 minutes flight

Today, you'll hike to Kimchi via the lovely Gurung village of Ghandruk. It is the second largest Gurung village in Nepal and home to several brave Gurkhas.

After having a brief stop at Ghandruk, you'll move forward to Kimchi village and drive back to Pokhara. Later you'll take a short flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 6
Final Departure

It's your final day in the Himalayan country of Nepal. We'll bid you farewell, and a representative from Third Rock Adventures will drop you at the airport three hours before your final flight.
